October is yet another exciting month of K-pop comebacks and debuts. From WEi’s debut to new sub-units from established bands, such as WJSN CHOCOME and NCT U, there are many comeback concepts to look forward to.

1. BLACKPINK – The Album

BLACKPINK recently released 2 singles, How You Like That and Ice Cream, which were highly successful. The music video for How You Like That reached 539 million views, while Ice Cream, featuring Selena Gomez, took 13th place on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Less than a month after BLACKPINK’s 4th anniversary, the group will finally release their 1st full album, The Album, with the title track, Lovesick Girls, on 2nd October 2020.

2. WEi’s debut – IDENTITY : First Sight

WEi is an upcoming 6-member boy band under OUI Entertainment. The group is comprised of Jang Daehyeon, Kim Donghan, Yoo Yongha, Kim Junseo, Kang Seokhwa, and Kim Yohan.
All of the members were introduced to the general public through trainee survival programs. Jang Daehyeon and Kim Donghan participated in Mnet’s Produce 101 Season 2 (2017). Yoo Yongha and Kim Junseo competed in MBC’s Under Nineteen (2018), and both made it into the final lineup of 1THE9 at 6th and 9th place respectively. Kang Seokhwa and Kim Yohan participated in Mnet’s Produce X 101 (2019), with Yohan ranking 1st overall and becoming part of the project group, X1.

WEi will make their debut on 5th October 2020 with the album, IDENTITY : First Sight. The title track of the album, TWILIGHT, was produced by PENTAGON’s Hui and producer team Flow Blow.

3. SF9 – SPECIAL HISTORY BOOK

SF9 is a 9-member boy band under FNC Entertainment. They made their debut in 2016 with their 1st single album, Feeling Sensation, and the title track Fanfare.
Fans were happy to hear of their October comeback, which comes only 2 months after the release of their 8th EP, 9loryUS.

To commemorate their 4th anniversary, SF9 will release a special album, SPECIAL HISTORY BOOK, with 3 tracks – including the title track, Shine Together – on 5th October 2020.
4. Ailee – I’m

Ailee made her debut in 2011 under YMC Entertainment, and she’s known for her powerful vocals. She started as a cover artist before releasing her first original track, Heaven, produced by Wheesung.
In 2019, Ailee signed with Rocket3 Entertainment. On 28th September 2020, she dropped a surprise cover of Tango by ABIR, bringing fans back to her good old cover days.
After a year-long hiatus, Ailee will finally make a comeback on 6th October 2020, with her 5th mini-album, I’m. When We Were In Love, a fall-themed ballad, is the title track.
5. Golden Child – Pump It Up

Golden Child, a 10-member boy band under Woollim Entertainment, made their debut in 2017 with the track DamDaDi.
One of the members, Bomin, is currently starring in JTBC’s new drama 18 Again. He plays Serim High School’s model student, Seo Ji-ho.

6. Weki Meki – NEW RULES

Weki Meki made their debut in 2017 with the track, I Don’t Like Your Girlfriend, as an 8-member girl group under Fantagio.
The group made a strong impression on fans and sold over 47,000 physical copies of their debut album in 3 months. It was the best selling album among newly debuted girl groups in 2017. Their most recent release, Oopsy (2020), charmed fans with a chic and sexy concept.
Weki Meki will be making their comeback on 8th October 2020, with their 4th mini-album, NEW RULES.

7. WJSN CHOCOME’s debut – Hmph!

WJSN CHOCOME is the first sub-unit of the 13-member girl group, WJSN. The sub-unit’s name in Korean is 쪼꼬미 (jjokkomee), which refers to something or someone that is tiny and adorable.
The sub-unit consists of members Soobin, Luda, Yeoreum, and Dayoung.

WJSN CHOCOME will make their debut with the single, Hmph!, on 8th October 2020. The album’s 2nd track, Ya Ya Ya, is a remake of Baby V.O.X’s Ya Ya Ya (1998). Meanwhile, WJSN is currently preparing for their online live concert As We Wish, which will be held on 24th October 2020.

8. Kyuhyun (Super Junior) – PROJECT : 季

Kyuhyun will be releasing a new autumn single as part of his PROJECT : 季, through which he intends to release a track every season for a year. The project started in July this year with the release of a summer serenade, Dreaming (2020).
He will release the project’s 2nd single, Daystar, on 8th October 2020, along with a cinematic MV starring actor Yoo Yeon-seok, whom he had met through the musical Werther (2020).
9. DAWN – DAWNDIDIDAWN

DAWN is a former member of boy band PENTAGON. He made his official solo debut under P Nation in 2019 with the single, Money.
He’s also known for his 4-year relationship with current labelmate Hyuna. The two are often featured together and their most recent collaborative project was an advertisement for Calvin Klein.
DAWN will release his 1st mini-album with the title track, DAWNDIDIDAWN, on 9th October 2020. The title track will feature labelmate Jessi, who recently made a comeback with NUNU NANA (2020).
10. Dahye’s solo debut – Poison

In 2013, Dahye made her debut with the track, Pitapat, as the rapper of the now-disbanded girl group BESTie. She left the group in 2017.
Dahye will make her solo debut with a remake of Uhm Jung-hwa’s iconic hit, Poison (1998). The release of her debut single, Poison, originally scheduled to be on 25th September, was delayed till 10th October 2020. Following Poison, she will also release an original song in the month after.
11. Refund Expedition’s debut – Don’t Touch Me

Refund Expedition is a 4-member girl group made of Korea’s top divas – Lee Hyori, Uhm Junghwa, Jessi, and MAMAMOO’s Hwasa. The group came to be during SSAK3’s promotions when Lee Hyori picked out the other 3 members as part of her dream girl group.

The nation’s MC, Yoo Jae-suk, turned her dream into reality by becoming the group’s producer. On a recent episode of MBC’s How Do You Play?, the group met up with him to have a profile photo shoot and choose their debut track.
After listening to the demo track of Don’t Touch Me, a catchy dance number, the group unanimously decided on the song as their debut single, to be released on 10th October 2020.
12. Kiara – Tomboy

Kiara is a 22-year-old solo artist under EZ Entertainment. She made her debut on 18th January 2020 with the digital single BOSS.
Her stage name “Kiara” is a variant of the Italian name “Chiara”, which means “brightly”. It reflects her desire to shine brightly on stage. The rookie singer will release her 2nd single, Tomboy, on 11th October 2020.

13. NCT U – NCT 2020: RESONANCE Pt. 1

NCT U consists of the 21 members of NCT 127, NCT Dream, and WayV, as well as 2 new members, Shotaro and Sungchan. The 23 members will break into sub-units of NCT U to pull off a variety of concepts.
NCT U’s 1st unit comprises Doyoung, Jaehyun, Taeyong, Jaemin, Lucas, and Shotaro. They will be promoting the track Make a Wish, a hip-hop pop dance song with a whistle riff. Their 2nd unit comprises Doyoung, Kun, Haechan, Renjun, Yuta, Chenle, and Taeil, who will promote the track From Home, a ballad to be sung in different languages.
NCT 2020: RESONANCE Pt. 1 will consist of both Make a Wish and From Home, with the former’s MV to be released on 12th October 2020 and the latter on 19th October 2020. NCT U is also set to release a sequel to the NCT 2020: RESONANCE album in November with two other sub-units. It will cover genres such as retro hip-hop and EDM.

14. PENTAGON – WE:TH

After finishing 3rd in Mnet’s Road To Kingdom (2020), PENTAGON released their 1st Japanese album, Universe: The History (2020), on 23rd September 2020. The group will subsequently make their Korean comeback on 12th October 2020, with their 10th mini-album, WE:TH.

PENTAGON’s comeback trailer, Keep Us By Your Side, was released on 25th September. The monochrome trailer video with a mellow tune hinted at a retro cinema concept from the 80s for their upcoming comeback.

WEEEKLY is a 7-member girl group under PlayM Entertainment. It consists of Soojin, Jiyoon, Monday, Soeun, Jaehee, Jihan, and Zoa. Members Soeun, Soojin, and Jiyoon were contestants on JTBC’s MIXNINE (2017).
The group made their debut recently on 30th June 2020, through the album We Are, and the title track Tag Me (@Me).
Weeekly will make their comeback on 13th October 2020 with their 2nd mini-album, We Can.

VERIVERY released their 4th mini-album, FACE YOU, just 3 months ago. On 26th September 2020, Jellyfish Entertainment dropped a surprise comeback trailer of the rookie boy band conveying a mysterious yet dramatic concept, coupled with a powerful dance tune at the end.
VERIVERY will make their comeback on 13th October 2020 with their 5th mini-album, FACE US. This marks the end of their FACE it trilogy, a 3-part series of the group’s 2020 releases.

M.O.N.T stands for “Members Of the National Team” and consists of Narachan, Bitsaeon, and Roda. The trio pride themselves on being “organic/rural idols”, with all the members native to Ganghwa Island.

All 3 members competed in JTBC’s MIXNINE (2017) before they making their official debut in 2019, with the track Will You be My Girlfriend?.
The trio actively participates in the lyrics writing and production of their songs, proving their musicality and commitment to self-expression. The group’s most recent release was Shadow (2020), which was released last month.
At the start of 2020, M.O.N.T’s agency, Fly Entertainment, started a new project called “M.O.N.T Arena”. They intend to debut 2 other trios each with their own unique concept, alongside M.O.N.T. While the 3 groups will be producing music in their teams separately, inter-team sub-units will be formed among the 9 members in the future.
M.O.N.T will release their 3rd EP, Listen Up!, on 16th October 2020.
18. LOONA – Midnight (12:00)

LOONA made their debut as a 12-member girl group in 2018, with the bright electro-pop track, Hi High. Their debut track peaked at No. 11 on the US World Digital Songs Sales chart, giving the group a good start in the idol industry.
LOONA will make their comeback on 19th October 2020 by releasing their 3rd mini-album, Midnight (12:00), with the title track, Why Not. The group will promote their upcoming album with 11 members, excluding Haseul, who is currently recovering from recurring anxiety issues.

19. TXT – Minisode 1: Blue Hour

TXT stands for “TOMORROW X TOGETHER” and they are a 5-member boy band under Big Hit Entertainment. They made their debut on 4th March 2019, with the title track Crown. It peaked at #1 on the Gaon Album Chart and Billboard World Albums Chart.
Within a year, the group proved their popularity after receiving several awards, such as the “Rookie of the Year” award at the 34th Golden Disk Awards and “Best New Male Artist” award at the 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards.

TXT will make a comeback with their 3rd mini-album, Minisode 1: Blue Hour, on 26th October 2020. The album logo and pixel art teaser feature retro game pixels which hint at the album’s quirky throwback concept.
20. TWICE’s comeback

TWICE’s last Korean release was their 9th Korean EP, More & More, released on 1st June 2020. The album was highly successful and became TWICE’s best selling album to date. On 25th September, it was confirmed that TWICE will be making their comeback on 26th October 2020.
As TWICE gears up for their upcoming comeback, fans can keep themselves occupied in the meantime with the group’s reality show, “TIME TO TWICE” TDOONG High School.
