Of You in Seoul
If you have ever bought a set of homeware but realised they don’t fit with the aesthetics of your kitchen at all, Of You offers a solution to this problem. Of You is a workshop cafe that teaches customers how to customise all sorts of cutlery, ranging from cups and glasses to plates and bowls, just with a few pieces of transfer and decal paper.Â
Design your own homeware

To create their own designs, customers are given sheets of coloured decal and transfer paper, on which they can draw their desired designs or cut into different shapes.

After cutting out these designs, customers have to soak the sheets in water before sticking them onto the surface of their chosen piece of dining ware.

Customers who are less confident in their arts and crafts abilities need not fret as the cafe provides printed templates and shape punchers for use.

The workshop offers many types of tableware in both glass and ceramic, from classic tall drinking glasses to irregularly shaped vases.Â

After finalising their designs, customers will have to bake their product with the help of the staff.

The finished product can then be brought home, ready for use.

Those who don’t want to carry the fruits of their labour home can have it delivered for a small fee of KRW3,000 (~USD2.43).Â
DIY with their seasonal all-in-one kits

Of You also offers convenient take-home kits that allow customers to recreate the DIY session in the comforts of their home.

On special occasions such as Christmas, the cafe releases seasonal themed kits too.

Each kit contains 2 glasses, a pair of scissors, a penknife, a pair of tweezers, a few sheets of ceramic decal paper, a sheet of transfer paper with an alphabet stencil, and an instruction manual.Â

After completing the design, the glasses should be left out to air-dry for 1 to 2 days.Â

Customers can then send the glasses to Of You, where the staff will commence the last step of the procedure – kiln firing the pieces.Â

The cafe will return the finished products to the customers using a courier service.Â

Those who would like to skip out on the DIY process and simply purchase new cutlery can browse through Of You’s online store, where they sell handmade microwave-safe homeware.

As all their bowls, plates, and cups are handcrafted, their quality is imperfect and may vary in shape and size.Â
