On 25th May, it was revealed that Kim Young-dae will be part of the main cast of School 2021. The drama is part of KBS’ popular and iconic School series, which started in 1999.

KBS’ School series started with School 1 in 1999, and the latest drama in the series is School 2017, which was released in 2017.
The series is known for being a stepping stone for rookie actors and actresses, and has helped them gain recognition in the entertainment industry. Some popular actors and actresses who have starred in the School series include Gong Yoo, Lee Jong-suk, Bae Doona, and Kim Woo-bin.
Like the rest of the dramas in the series, School 2021 will highlight the struggles that youths face in school. The drama will revolve around 2 main characters, Gong Ki-joon and Na Geum-young, who are students in a vocational high school.
Kim Yo-han will take on the role of Gong Ki-joon, an award-winning taekwondo player who had to quit due to an ankle injury. Unfortunately, when he got injured, his father’s business collapsed. Ki-joon gives up his taekwondo dreams and shoulders his family’s financial burdens. He meets Na Geum-young in school.
Geum-young is an aspiring YouTuber who is studying culinary arts at the vocational high school. The female lead for School 2021 has not been confirmed. Previously, Ahn Seo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron were considered for the role, but both declined the offer. Jo Yi-hyun is now considering the offer.
Young-dae will be playing the role of Jung Young-joo, a mysterious transfer student who shared an unknown history with Ki-joon before enrolling into the vocational high school.

Young-dae is a rising actor who is most well-known for his role as Joo Seok-hoon in Penthouse. He was nominated for the “Best New Actor” award in the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards for his stellar performance in Penthouse.
Aside from Penthouse, Kim Young-dae was also part of the main cast in other dramas such as Cheat On Me If You Can and Extraordinary You.
We can’t wait to see Young-dae take on his role in School 2021. As an actor with lots of potential, Kim Young-dae will definitely do well in his new role.
School 2021 will air in the 2nd half of this year.
