Lee Min-ho & Gong Hyo-jin To Star In Ask The Stars, A Rom-com Drama Set In Space

Lee Min-ho & Gong Hyo-jin in Ask The Stars

On 28th March 2022, it was reported that Korea’s top-tier actor Lee Min-ho and actress Gong Hyo-jin will be collaborating in an upcoming romantic comedy drama titled Ask The Stars (literal translation). This marks their first collaboration, despite having been in the entertainment industry for a substantial period of time.

Ask The Stars isn’t just another rom-com – the drama takes place both on Earth and in a space station!

Interweaving elements of romance, comedy, and sci-fi in one drama might seem ambitious, but we trust that this project will be successful as it’s helmed by director Park Shin-woo. In 2020, he directed the lauded drama It’s Okay Not To Be Okay.

In addition, Ask The Stars is written by screenwriter Seo Sook-hyang. She worked with director Park Shin-woo in the rom-com drama Jealousy Incarnate (2016), which also starred Gong Hyo-jin.

Lee Min-ho will take on the role of an obstetrician named “Gong Ryong”, which means “dinosaur” in Korean. Interesting choice.

Following his critically acclaimed drama Pachinko, it won’t be long before you see the actor on screen again.

Gong Hyo-jin will play a Korean-American astronaut called Eve. When she visits the space station where Gong Ryong works, they meet and catch feelings for each other. We can’t help but look forward to a love story that’s out of this world, literally.

You may recognise the actress from When the Camellia Blooms (2019) and It’s Okay, That’s Love (2014). During the KBS Drama Awards 2019, she was awarded the Grand Prize for her brilliant performance in When the Camellia Blooms.

First collab between Lee Min-ho & Gong Hyo-jin

The airing date has yet to be confirmed, but we know for certain that the drama will premiere in 2023.

Since this is the first time Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin are working together, the casting news of two heavyweights piqued the interest of many fans, including us. Stay tuned for more updates!
