Upcoming K-pop comebacks in September 2020


September is here and K-pop fans are in for a treat again. From WONHO’s long-anticipated solo debut to CLC’s new chic concept, September will be a month full of exciting new music.

We’ve compiled all the September 2020 K-pop comebacks and debuts and will be updating this list weekly so that you won’t miss out on any. 


1. SuperM – 호랑이 (Tiger Inside)

Formed in 2019, SuperM is a supergroup with 7 members from 4 SM Entertainment boy bands. The members include Taemin from SHINee, Baekhyun and Kai from EXO, Taeyong and Mark from NCT 127, and Ten and Lucas from WayV.

SuperM debuted with Jopping (2019) and was the first Korean act to enter the Billboard 200 Chart at No.1 with a debut release.

The band recently launched a 3-part pre-release project named Super One Project, and it will lead up to the release of the group’s 1st full album, Super One, on 25th Sept. Through the project, SuperM hopes to send the message of overcoming challenges through uniting as one.

100, the 1st single of the 3-part release, was released on 14th Aug.


The group will release their 2nd single
호랑이 (Tiger Inside) on 1st Sept.


2. Lovelyz – Unforgettable

Lovelyz made their debut in 2014 and they are known for tracks such as Ah-Choo (2015), Destiny (2016), and Now, We (2017).

The 8-member group recently participated in Mnet’s Queendom (2019) and released Moonlight (2019), which placed them 4th among other groups like (G)-IDLE, MAMAMOO, and OH MY GIRL.

Lovelyz will be returning with their 7th mini-album Unforgettable and the title track Obliviate on 1st Sept. The track is about removing the painful memory of love.

3. A.C.E – HZJM: The Butterfly Phantasy

A.C.E made their debut with Cactus (2017) and went on a short hiatus to compete in survival shows The Unit (2017) and MixNine (2017). Through the two shows, members like Chan, Byeongkwan, and Donghun gained recognition for their vocal and dance skills.

The 5-member group had previously released singles such as Take Me Higher (2018) and Savage (2019) prior to making their comeback this year.

HZJM: The Butterfly Phantasy is their 4th mini-album and will be released with the title track 도깨비 (Favorite Boys) on 2nd Sept.

Over the past two weeks, A.C.E released concept photos of the members donning the traditional hanbok together with edgy modern streetwear.

4. CLC – HELICOPTER

With hit singles like Hobgoblin (2017), Black Dress (2018), and Me (2019), CLC has gained recognition for their tough, “girl crush” image.

After a 1-year hiatus, CLC will finally be making their comeback on 2nd Sept with the single HELICOPTER.


5. LUNARSOLAR’s debut – 노는 게 제일 좋아 (OH YA YA YA)

LUNARSOLAR is a 4-member girl group with Eseo, Taeryeong, Jian, and Yuuri.

After a month of teasing fans, the group will make their debut on 2nd Sept through their 1st single album SOLAR: flare and the title track 노는 게 제일 좋아 (OH YA YA YA).

LUNARSOLAR had revealed a 15-second teaser of their debut track on TikTok, with members lipsyncing to the song. They also have a TikTok dance tutorial for their upcoming track. 


6. South Club – Rock Star

South Club is a 4-member band under P&B Entertainment comprising former WINNER member Nam Tae-hyun, bassist Jung Hoe-min, drummer Lee Dong-geun, and guitarist Kang Min-jun.

The band debuted with the track Hug Me (2017) and subsequently released Outcast (2018) and Twice (2019). Their most recent release was To My Friends (2020), a sentimental soft rock ballad.

Through the single Rock Star, which will be released on 2nd Sept, South Club hopes to showcase their broad musical spectrum by challenging a new music genre.

7. Super Junior-D&E – Bad Blood

Super Junior-D&E is a duo comprising Super Junior members Donghae and Eunhyuk. They’ve covered a wide range of genres, such as R&B, house, and ballad, through previous tracks such as Growing Pains (2015), Bout You (2018), and Danger (2019).

After a year and a half, the duo is finally coming back with their 4th mini-album Bad Blood, showcasing their strong chemistry yet again – this time with a “bad boy” concept.

The title track B.A.D is an electronic hip-hop track composed and produced by Donghae, with the lyrics centred on a dangerous attraction.

8. WONHO’s solo debut – Love Synonym Pt. 1: Right for Me

WONHO, a former Monsta X member, took almost one year off due to false accusations. However, despite the obstacles he faced in those challenging times, his determination has led him to where he is now.

On 4th September, he will make his solo debut with the mini-album Love Synonym Pt.1: Right for Me, in which he participated in songwriting and production.

The mini-album has 8 songs, with Open Mind being the title track. It also includes the English ballad Losing You, which was pre-released on 14th Aug.

9. Kim Nam-joo (Apink) solo debut – Bird

Multi-talented Nam-joo is part of Apink and she will be the 3rd member, after Ha-young and Eun-ji, to make a solo debut. In 2015, her duet with BTOB’s Yook Sung-jae, Photograph (2015), drew a lot of attention from listeners.


Through her solo debut album
Bird, Nam-joo hopes to tell fans that she will not hold back doing the things she loves, just like how a bird flies freely in the sky. The title track of her album was produced by (G)I-DLE’s So-yeon and will be released on 7th Sept.

10. Taemin (SHINee) – Never Gonna Dance Again: Act 1

Taemin, a member of SHINee, has been actively promoting as a solo artist. He recently released his prologue track 2 Kids (2020), the first of his 3-part release for his 3rd album Never Gonna Dance Again.

11. YooA (OH MY GIRL)’s solo debut – Bon Voyage

YooA made her debut in 2015 as a member of OH MY GIRL. The band is behind popular tracks like Secret Garden (2018), The Fifth Season (2019), and Nonstop (2020). She is distinctively known for her doll-like visuals.

YooA will be the first member of OH MY GIRL to make a solo debut. Her mini-album, Bon Voyage, will be released on 7th Sept.

 

The teaser photos that were released showcased a variety of nature-themed concepts from innocent to sexy ones, showing YooA’s versatile charm. 


12. ASTRO’s Moonbin & Sanha unit debut – IN-OUT

Astro members Moonbin and Sanha will make their subunit debut with their 1st mini-album IN-OUT.

The logo for the unit contains the initials of the members’ names, “M” and “S”, forming an infinity sign that implies the infinite possibilities the duo can achieve together.

13. Stray Kids – IN生 (In Life)

Stray Kids made their debut with Hellavator (2017) and released singles like My Pace (2018), Miroh (2019), and Double Knot (2019). The 8-member boy group finally released their 1st full album, GO生 (Go Life) (2020), with the title track 神메뉴 (God’s Menu) this year.

14. VAV – Made For Two

Fans have been patiently waiting for VAV’s comeback ever since they wrapped up their MV filming on Jeju Island last month. However, due to Baron’s sudden enlistment in the army, VAV will promote their new album with 6 members instead of 7.

The group is set to make their comeback on 15th September with their 6th mini-album Made For Two. The album trailer, which was narrated in English, Mandarin, and Korean, revealed a narrative of expressing one’s dedicated love for another.

15. B.O.Y – Phase Two : We

B.O.Y is a duo with Kim Kook-heon and Song Yuvin, formerly from Myteen. After Myteen’s disbandment on 21st August 2019, the duo continued to promote as B.O.Y.  As participants of Mnet’s Produce X 101 (2019), both of them wowed fans with their steady vocal and dance skills.

The duo released their first digital single Blurry (2019) on 24th August 2019, before releasing their debut EP Phase One : You (2020), with the title track My Angel.

 

B.O.Y will make a comeback on 15th September with their 2nd EP Phase Two : We.

16. Fromis_9 – My Little Society

Fromis_9 is a 9-member girl group formed through the reality show Idol School (2017). The group’s most recent release was Fun Factory (2019), with the title track FUN!.

 

The group finished filming their music video last month and will be making their first comeback after a year-long hiatus, on 16th September with their 3rd mini-album My Little Society.

17. H&D’s special album

H&D is a duo formed by Pocketdol Studio, comprising Hangyul and Dohyon who were former members of boyband X1. They made their debut on 21st April 2020, with their 1st EP Soulmate (2020).

 

On 2nd Sept 2020, Pocketdol Studio announced that they will be debuting a new boy group in the second half of the year and that Hangyul and Dohyun will be part of the group.

H&D’s upcoming special album marks their final album as a duo before they prepare for their group debut. The album will be released on 23rd September and will include songs composed by Dohyon.


18. UP10TION’s 9th mini-album

On 24th August, UP10TION released a BTS video of their upcoming album’s music recording session with teaser snippets of their new songs.

 

UP10TION will make a comeback with 7 members, excluding Kim Woo-seok, Lee Jin-hyuk, and leader Jinhoo who is recovering from health issues, with their 9th mini-album on 24th Sept.

Starting from their jacket preview video release on 3rd September, fans will be treated with a string of content throughout the whole of September.
