IU & Lee Joon-gi Hope To Co-Star Again In “Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo” Season 2, Netizens Beg For It To Happen

IU & Lee Joon-gi want Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo Season 2

If you have been suffering from post-drama syndrome and wishing for season 2 ever since Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo ended in 2016, you are not alone. Even the stars of the drama, IU and Lee Joon-gi, are hoping for Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo Season 2.

IU calls Lee Joon-gi during his radio show

On 17th April, Lee Joon-gi celebrated his birthday with his fans by holding his own radio show, DREAM, on NAVER NOW.

During the radio show, he received a surprise phone call from IU, his co-star in Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. After she wished him a happy birthday, the two talked about their friendship and Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo.

As they were talking about the drama, Joon-gi read out a question from a fan regarding the possibility of Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo Season 2. He mentioned that many fans have been asking and hoping for it.

In response to the question, IU said that she definitely doesn’t mind filming a 2nd season because she had a great time acting in the drama. She went on to say that she personally feels that there is no reason not to have a 2nd season if circumstances allow.

Fans who have been waiting for more IU and Joon-gi content will love their cute interaction on the radio show. Aside from talking about Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, the duo kept complimenting each other and talked about their personal activities.

Joon-gi even asked IU how she saved his number, and she replied, “So Joon-gi sunbaenim” – “So” refers to his character, Wang So, in Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and sunbaenim means senior. Joon-gi saved her number as “Ji-eun Ji-eun, our Ji-eun”, which is super cute.

Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo was adapted from the Chinese novel Bu Bu Jing Xin. Joon-gi took on the role of the charismatic 4th Prince Wang So, and IU played Go Ha-jin.

During an eclipse, Go Ha-jin suddenly travels back in time and finds herself in the body of Hae Soo, the cousin of the 8th Prince’s wife. Since she’s in the palace, she ends up befriending the princes and falling in love with Wang Wook, the 8th Prince. However, she later realises that she actually loves the seemingly cold-hearted 4th Prince, Wang So.

Go Ha-jin, now Hae Soo, finds out how treacherous the palace can be amidst a deadly fight for the throne between the princes. With no idea how to return to the 21st century, she can only try her best to survive and not get too involved with palace politics.
