The upcoming game is a cross between reality and the virtual world. According to Pearl Abyss, DokeV is a “creature-collecting open world action-adventure filled with intriguing stories and set in a unique, vibrant world.”

Besides being an open world game, DokeV is about the main character embarking on an adventure to catch goblins.

Here, goblins refer to god-like creatures from traditional Korean folklore. If you’ve watched Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, you’ll be familiar with the kind of goblins we’re talking about.

The game’s name, DokeV, is also a play on the Korean word for “goblin” – 도깨비 (dokkaebi).

The trailer revealed that the game is set against a backdrop where various quintessentially Korean landscapes, such as hanok houses, are featured.

DokeV, a game set against the backdrop of Korean culture

Many gamers are anticipating the launch of DokeV as this unique game includes elements of traditional Korean culture. Although the launch date has yet to be confirmed, Cho Seok-woo, Chief Financial Officer of Pearl Abyss, said that their goal is to launch DokeV in 2022.
